Obituary: Linda Sharon Brown stories

Linda Sharon Brown of Mesa, Arizona, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2018. Linda was born on Oct. 1, 1937, to J.G. and Ola Cox in Arkadelphia, AK. She was preceded in death by her parents, J.G. Cox, Sr., and Ola Rae Cox; a brother, J.G. “Sandy” Cox, Jr., and her partner, John Fulton.

Linda graduated from Prescott High School in 1955. She was a member of the Yellow Jackets Girls Activity Club, as well as member and past president of the Theta Rho’s. Linda was an accomplished square dancer with the Yavapai Club Twisters and traveled with the club to shows around the state during her high school years.

After graduation in 1955 she married Myron Brown of Prescott, Arizona.

Linda served on the Vestry at the St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church in Tempe for many years. She was also a realtor in the Tempe area and later worked for a title company until her retirement. She enjoyed playing golf. Linda served on the Board of Directors for Sunrise Mobile Home Park. She held positions of President and Secretary.

Linda is survived by two sons, Gilford Brown (Sherry) of Gilbert, Arizona, and Gregory Brown (Denise) of Mesa, Arizona; and two siblings, Philip Cox (Camille) of Sedona, Arizona, and Dana Sue Everheart (Denny) of Apache Junction, Arizona. Linda’s six grandchildren all reside in the Greater Phoenix area: Nicole Brown, Christopher Brown, Cody Brown, Krystal Leach (Blair), Kaycie Hinojos (Chris), Chad Glendenning (Esther). She has seven great-grandchildren: Lily Gorla, Ivy Corona-Glendenning, Brealynn Leach, Kyrsten Leach, Kaitlynn Leach, Bailey Hinojos and Jameson Hinojos.

Service and Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 20, 2018, at the Sunrise Village Community Clubhouse from noon-2:30 p.m. A luncheon will follow the service at 5402 E. McKellips Rd Mesa, Arizona, 85215
